We are helping our client, a fast-growing hardware distribution business with ambitious growth plans, hire an Account Manager.Job DescriptionThe Outside Sales Manager is responsible for driving new business development within an assigned territory, with a primary focus on identifying, prospecting, and converting new Aerospace & Defense customer accounts. This role develops and executes a strategic territory plan targeting key prospects, establishing revenue goals, prioritizing opportunities, and maximizing time and resources to achieve growth objectives.The Outside Sales Manager builds strong, multi-level relationships within prospective and existing customer organizations, engaging contacts across Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality to position Clarendon as a trusted, full-service partner. A key focus is engaging engineering teams early in the design and specification process to identify design-in opportunities and secure long-term sole-source or preferred-supplier positions. This role manages the new customer acquisition process from initial prospecting through negotiation and account handoff, partnering closely with Account Management and Customer Service to ensure a seamless transition and strong customer experience. The Territory Sales Manager also monitors competitive activity and market trends, maintains an active sales pipeline, reports forecasts and prospecting activity to sales leadership, and represents the company at industry trade shows and networking events.Roles and ResponsibilitiesDrive new business development within an assigned territory, focusing on identifying, prospecting, and closing new customer accounts.Develop and maintain a territory management plan, including target accounts, prospecting strategy, revenue goals, and time allocation.Conduct in-person sales calls and customer meetings to build relationships, understand needs, and position Clarendon’s full capabilities.Build and cultivate relationships across purchasing, quality, and engineering contacts within each customer organization, establishing Clarendon as a trusted, multi-faceted partner.Engage engineering contacts early to identify design-in opportunities, positioning the company during the design/specification phase to secure long-term, sole-source, or preferred-supplier business.Travel extensively throughout the territory to meet with prospects and customers face-to-face.Lead new accounts from prospecting through negotiation and handoff, partnering with Account Management and Customer Service on quoting, sourcing, and order management.Monitor competitive activity and market trends, and report on pipeline, prospecting activity, and forecasted new business to sales leadership.Represent the company at industry trade shows and networking events and maintain accurate records of contacts and opportunities.Key Skills/AttributesProven new business sales track recordExcellent communication and presentation skillsStrong relationship-building across customer functionsDesign-in / engineering sales cycle knowledgeSelf-motivated, resilient, and goal-drivenStrong territory planning and time managementAerospace fastener and certification familiarityTravel 50-75%Microsoft Suite proficiency
