Substation Engineering Project Manager - Remote
b19 Consulting has partnered with an established power delivery company looking to hire a mid-level technical substation engineering project manager to execute work for some of the largest electric utilities on the East Coast.Role ResponsibilitiesLead multidisciplinary engineering projects throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives are achievedDevelop and manage project proposals, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and resource plans for both new and existing clientsDefine project requirements and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectationsBuild and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional project deliveryFacilitate and lead project meetings, coordinating internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholdersMonitor project progress, identify risks and opportunities, and implement effective mitigation strategiesEstablish project technical requirements, approved design criteria, and engineering standardsManage project financial performance, including forecasting, budgeting, invoicing, and profitability targetsCoordinate engineering activities to ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on scheduleDrive quality assurance and quality control processes, including interdisciplinary reviews and design checksCapture lessons learned and implement continuous improvement initiatives across projectsOversee project turnover, commissioning support, and closeout activities to ensure successful project completionReview and approve project invoices and collaborate with accounting teams to resolve billing matters efficientlySupport business development initiatives by identifying opportunities for growth and expanding existing client relationshipsRequired ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) license and/or PMP certification preferredMinimum of 7 years of engineering industry experience, including at least 2 years in project management, engineering management, or leadership rolesStrong understanding of utility, energy, industrial, or infrastructure engineering projects, including engineering design, construction practices, and project executionExperience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating complex stakeholder environmentsExpertise with project management and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office SuiteStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilitiesDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlinesExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, leadership teams, and technical personnelCustomer-focused mindset with a collaborative, team-oriented approach to project deliveryProven ability to lead projects in a fast-paced environment while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence
