A CASA can help a young person navigate the child welfare, school and healthcare systems, and ensure they have the support they need to thrive. Many advocates tell us the experience is more rewarding than they ever imagined! #ShowUpThe first step is to attend a 50-minute volunteer info session - sign up at www.sfcasa.org/volunteer. The CASA Role• Act as a consistent and supportive advocate for a child.• Visit the child on a regular basis - together you pick the time and activity.• Build a relationship to better understand the youth’s needs and desires.• Review records regarding family, academic, and medical history, and recommend additional support services.• Communicate the child’s needs, strengths and interests in court reports twice annually. Support child throughout the court proceedings.• Communicate and coordinate efforts with the youth’s social worker, attorney, and other professionals involved with the case.LinkedIn for Good Volunteering
