2nd Shift Maintenance TechnicianPosition OverviewThe 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation during afternoon/evening production hours. This role supports uptime, quality, and safety by performing preventive maintenance, responding quickly to breakdowns, and partnering with production teams to keep equipment running at peak performance.Shift DetailsShift: 2nd ShiftHours: 3:30 PM – 11:30 PMSchedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend coverage as neededKey ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on production machinery, packaging equipment, conveyors, motors, pumps, and facility systems.Respond to equipment breakdowns with urgency to minimize downtime and restore safe operation.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using proper tools and diagnostic methods.Support equipment changeovers, adjustments, calibrations, and setups for 2nd shift production needs.Document all maintenance activities, parts usage, and findings in the CMMS.Assist with root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.Maintain compliance with company safety policies, LOTO procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.Communicate effectively with 1st and 3rd shift teams to ensure smooth handoffs and continuity of maintenance work.Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools and parts are properly stored.Participate in continuous improvement, reliability initiatives, and equipment upgrade projects.QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.2+ years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing environment strongly preferred).Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.Experience with PLC‑controlled equipment, sensors, motors, drives, and automated systems.Ability to use multimeters, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.Strong understanding of LOTO, machine guarding, and general industrial safety practices.Ability to work independently on 2nd shift with minimal supervision.PreferredExperience in food manufacturing, packaging, or high‑speed production environments.CMMS experience (Fiix, eMaint, SAP PM, etc.).Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, industrial electrical, or maintenance technician credentials.Physical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to lift 50+ pounds and work in hot, cold, or humid environments.Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work at heights or in confined spaces.Work around moving machinery, electrical systems, and cleaning chemicals while following all safety procedures.Core CompetenciesTechnical troubleshootingSafety awarenessReliability & urgencyCommunicationProblem‑solvingTeam collaborationContinuous improvement mindset
