Job SummaryThis role is responsible for assisting medical staff in the provision of safe and efficient delivery of medical services at the clinic, as directed. Under the general supervision of medical staff, the role performs routine administrative and clinical duties, including scheduling medical appointments, greeting participants, filing medical records, taking and recording vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and maintaining equipment and supplies. The individual works collaboratively with all team members and participants to promote the mission and values of the organization.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist medical staff to address participants’ needs in the clinic. Prepare participants for their appointments, including setting up exam rooms, checking participants in and out, and obtaining accurate history of present illness. Perform required pre-exam physical tests, measure and document participants’ vital signs, and assist the physician during examinations. Perform general medical procedures such as dressing changes and suture removal under supervision. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform routine sterilization procedures of medical and dental equipment. Triage and address unscheduled requests for physician visits as directed. Proactively review on-site Specialist calendar daily to ensure all available appointments are filled and address any vacancies. Support Specialists by prepping participant for exams and ensuring history of current conditions is captured. Maintain clinic logs and ensure exam rooms are properly stocked, sanitized, and re-prepped for participant encounters. Maintain Emergency Cart daily log, monitor and maintain medication/vaccine refrigerator log, and manage participant sharps containers. Conduct required quality control checks on clinic lab equipment and maintain logs. Perform and document ordered procedures and care, and provide as-needed teaching to participants, in accordance with scope of practice. Perform staff and non-staff COVID testing as needed. Required Skills & ExperienceMinimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting with a frail or elderly population. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to follow directions from supervisor and communicate needs effectively. Excellent clinical, organizational, and communication skills in settings with seniors, their families, and interdisciplinary team members. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Experience and competency working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Commitment to unlocking the full potential of our most vulnerable seniors. Preferred Skills & ExperienceExperience working in the Home Health/Clinical Setting. Bilingual English/Spanish. Required EducationOne of the following is required:Completion of a Medical Assistant program accredited or approved by CAAHEP, ABHES, California Department of Labor (CDE), US Department of Education, or Bureau of Private and Post Secondary Education (BPPE). Completion of a non-accredited Medical Assistant program and Medical Assistant certification from a recognized certifying organization. Required Certification & LicensureOne of the following is required if the worker completed a non-accredited Medical Assistant Program:Registered Medical Assistant Certification through AMT. Registered Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Personnel. Registered Medical Assistant through the American Allied Health. Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA. Certified Clinical Medical Assistant through the National Healthcareer Association. National Certified Medical Assistant through NCCT. Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant through National Association for Health Professionals.
