Samoan Reviewer/Editor/Certifier, DOJ LSSLocation: National Capital Region (NCR) - Washington, DC 20540 US (Remote also available)Summary: The Unconventional (TU) seeks a qualified Reviewer/Editor/Certifier to support the Department of Justice with translation, interpretation, transcription and other linguistic support services. Tasks include translation of written and electronic documents, video and audio media, and court/deposition interpretation. Material ranges from legal, business, public administrative, medical, scientific to military terminology. All materials are sensitive and require strict confidentiality.Responsibilities:Translate, transcribe, and interpret various media and documents.Ensure translations are factually accurate, preserve tone, and meet legal standards.Use CAT tools such as SDL Trados Studio and research specialized terminology.Required Qualifications:Minimum five (5) years of experience in the required language within the past ten years and superior English editing skills.Qualifying ILR 4 or equivalent language/translation test score.Lived 3 of last 5 years in the U.S. (does not have to be consecutive).At least 1 year of experience working with a law enforcement and/or legal department.U.S. citizen.Know both English and foreign language vocabularies used in formal, legal, diplomatic, consultative, and casual contexts, including colloquial slang and regionalisms.Know specialized vocabulary (and terminology) in both languages related to the Government's roles and missions, and possess research and analytical skills for critical judgment of terminology.Write in native language fluently and have professional command of the non-native language.Translate accurately without changes, omissions, or additions.Preserve the tone and register of source materials.Abide by relevant code of linguist ethics.Proficient in using Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, especially SDL Trados Studio.Clearance: Active Public Trust or higher security clearance.Travel: Some travel may be required.Job Type: Part-time.Exemption Type: Non-Exempt.Category: Contractors.EEO STATEMENT: Yorktown Systems Group, Inc., and its wholly-owned subsidiaries, are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
