We’re passionate about building tools that reduce administrative work – so our customers can focus on what matters most: serving their clients.Job OverviewThe Controller is a key financial leader responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the company’s financial operations. This role oversees accounting, tax, and internal controls, while partnering closely with the CFO and FP&A team to support scale, growth, and informed decision-making. The Controller leads the accounting team and ensures the company meets all GAAP, regulatory, and compliance requirements.Responsibilities And DutiesFinancial Operations & Close:Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statementsManage general accounting activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reportingEnsure proper accounting treatment and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAPBilling, Collections & PayablesOversee accurate and timely customer billing and resolve billing discrepanciesMonitor accounts receivable, support collection efforts, and improve cash flow processesSupervise accounts payable to ensure accurate processing and timely vendor paymentsPayroll, Taxes & ComplianceEnsure accurate payroll processing and compliance with applicable tax and labor regulationsOversee timely tax filings and maintain appropriate documentation for all tax obligationsMaintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure complianceAudit, Risk & GovernanceCoordinate the annual audit and serve as the primary point of contact with external auditorsPrepare audit schedules, documentation, and responsesManage corporate business insurance and related renewalsReporting & Cross-Functional PartnershipPartner with FP&A to support monthly reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and forecastingProvide financial insights and support to business leaders as neededContinuously evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and controls to support growth and scalabilityPeople LeadershipLead, coach, and develop the accounting team, setting clear expectations and driving accountabilityFoster a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement Skills And QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceStrong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, tax regulations, and internal controlsExperience with ERP systems and accounting software (NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar)Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsProven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environmentAdditional Qualifications That Are Nice To HaveCPA licensePublic accounting experienceExperience in SaaS, technology, or subscription-based businessExperience working in a private equity-backed or investor-led environmentExposure to mergers and acquisitions or other strategic transactions in a growth-oriented environmentAt SurePoint, we know our people are our greatest strength.
