Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Kearney, Nebraska.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: PCU - Progressive Care UnitDiscipline: RNStart Date: ASAPDuration: 13 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: Mar 2, 2026Length: 13 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) position requiring a NE or compact license and expertise in titrating drips.DetailsWork in a hospital acute care setting on a 40-bed Progressive Care (Stepdown) UnitAdult patient population with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer, and renal failure casesNurse to patient ratio is 1:4-5 on both days and nightsRNs are required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulinRequired to manage arterial lines and interpret telemetry strips independentlyHigh flow respiratory equipment utilized12-hour night shifts with shift times 1830-0630Every other weekend and a minimum of two holidays within the contract requiredFloating required to MedSurg and ICU for PCU-acuity patientsNavy blue scrubs are requiredUses Epic for chartingRequirementsActive NE or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent RN experience in a similar settingCertifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (all active at time of consideration)Competency in arterial lines requiredAbility to interpret telemetry stripsMust pass a skills exam with minimum 90% during orientationDriver's license required to confirm residency outside a 50-mile radius per ruleCandidate must not have been employed by CommonSpirit facilities (including CHI/Dignity) in the past yearRTO requested upfront (maximum 7 days per 13-week contract), no additional RTO after submissionAdditional InformationPrimary duties include caring for complex adult patients and titrating multiple dripsAverage daily census is 24 patients supported by a charge nurse and techs at a 1:12 ratioFocus on patient experience, responsiveness, and communication regarding medicationsUnit serves culturally diverse populations, prominently Hispanic and Somalian patientsArtificial nails are not allowed for infection controlOrientation consists of one department-specific day and a general hospital orientation with a pass/fail open-book skills examMust be flexible, adaptable, and possess strong teamwork and communication skillsAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-672601.
