Materials and Process Engineer

This position is part of materials and process engineering group supporting non-metallic materials (polymer). The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing new materials and processes to improve product performance, and manufacturing efficiency. The engineer will work closely with Sr. M&P Engineer or Staff M&P Engineer, R&D, Design and Manufacturing Engineer team to troubleshoot and identify root causes for problems related to the production of elastomers, adhesive, ink, and encapsulants. Responsibilities: Performs a variety of functions directed toward identifying the suitable polymers and other materials used in the manufacture of electrical connectors Performs analytical measurements & mixing of a variety of elastomers, adhesives, pottings & encapsulants for production and non-production (engineering evaluation) Evaluate different raw materials and suppliers Performs physical, mechanical, adhesion and environmental tests in accordance with established test procedures Performs troubleshooting of raw materials and component level Must be familiar with M&P processes to include mixing, bonding (adhesion), potting, and coating to aid in problem identification and resolution Documenting results, maintains work logs and summarizing findings in technical reports in accordance with company work instruction Prepare M&P procedures (specifications) for existing and new materials (under the supervision of Sr. M&P Engineer or Staff M&P Engineer) Additional responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe M&P laboratory, proper storage of engineering samples, ordering laboratory supplies, and proper disposal of M&P hazardous waste materials Minimum Requirement: B.S. in materials engineering Two years of working experience with Polymers Technical writing skill Proficient in MS Office Ability to multitask and attention to detail Ability to lift 15 lbs box and/or fixtures Preferred Previous non-metallic materials (polymers) laboratory experience Experience working in high volume manufacture environment Experience working in laboratory environment Job Type: Full-time Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year Benefits: 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Retirement plan Vision insurance Schedule: 8 hour shift Monday to Friday Ability to commute/relocate: Glendale, CA 91201: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person
