Technique is looking for a General Manager to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Operations and is responsible for overseeing daily operations, driving business growth, ensuring operational excellence, and leading teams to achieve organizational goals. The General Manager will provide overall leadership and direction across all departments including production, sales, finance, HR, and customer service, while maintaining a positive and accountable work environment.The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred) and brings 8 or more years of senior leadership experience, ideally as a General Manager, Plant Manager, or Director. They are a proven leader with strong financial acumen, exceptional communication and negotiation skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage change, develop talent, and deliver results across complex, cross-functional organizations. The ideal candidate is a seasoned operations leader who has stood up and sustained a structured lean operating system in a manufacturing plant. Experience in precision metal fabrication, sheet metal, or a comparable regulated manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.Responsibilities:Provide leadership and direction – Provide overall leadership and direction to the organization, ensuring alignment of company goals with long-term vision and missionDevelop and implement business strategies – Develop and implement business strategies, operational plans, and performance objectives that drive organizational successFoster a culture of accountability – Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork throughout the organizationOversee day-to-day operations – Oversee day-to-day operations across all departments including production, sales, finance, HR, and customer serviceEnsure efficiency and compliance – Ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards across all operationsOptimize processes and resources – Deploy and sustain a structured lean operating system, including leader standard work, tiered daily management, layered accountability, and a regular operating cadenceContinuous Improvement: Lead a consistent kaizen cadence using value stream mapping, 5S, SMED, pull/kanban, and flow to systematically remove waste and improve throughputDevelop and manage budgets – Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, monitoring performance and implementing corrective actions as neededLead, coach, and develop managers – Lead, coach, and develop managers and staff to achieve high performance through workforce planning, talent development, and succession planningPromote a positive workplace culture – Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe workplace culture that supports employee engagement and retentionBuild and maintain stakeholder relationships – Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing escalated issues effectivelyRepresent the company externally – Represent the company in the community and at industry events as needed, serving as a visible and credible leaderRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field (Master’s preferred)8+ years of proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as a GM, Plant Manager, or DirectorDemonstrated experience deploying and sustaining a formal lean management or operating system, not just running isolated kaizen eventsLean or Six Sigma certification preferredManufacturing experience, ideally in precision sheet metal, metal fabrication, aerospace, defense, or a similar environmentStrong financial management and business development skillsDemonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and achieve resultsExcellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skillsKnowledge of industry standards, compliance requirements, and operational best practicesAbility to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 poundsSpecific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focusComfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise levelsMinimal travel expected for this positionMust be eligible to work in the United States by means of U.S. Citizenship, Work Visa, or H1B sponsorshipPosition Type and Expected Hours:This is a full-time exempt position with a minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime as needed. Days and hours required may vary.
