You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.In this position...The Plant Vehicle Engineer is an integral member of Ford Motor Company's Manufacturing organization. The PVT Engineer plays a vital role in analyzing and improving the quality of the vehicles. In this role, you will be 'first line of defense' with regards to the Body Construction current model quality workstream for the vehicle lines at Chicago Assembly Plant.ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll do:Review daily Vehicle Warranty for proper binning (Process, Design, Supplier Design, Supplier Process)Address Warranty/Build Issues/Containment Actions with supporting data at Daily Quality MeetingsLead Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for Sheet Metal / Wind Noise Process/Manufacturing concernsProvide manufacturing input into the development and prioritization of vehicle quality roadmaps, containment and corrective actionsAssist VRT to assure alignment with Plant internal quality indicators (QLS, FCPA) and verify containment actionsAssist in the development and management of the Quality roadmaps to deliver the Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) objectives, (Repairs/1000, and Cost Per Unit (CPU) reductions) by implementing revisions to the following:Tooling, equipment, and facilitiesProcessError proofing implementationMeasurement MethodsSupport Health Chart assessments for Sheet Metal / Wind NoiseLaunch Minor/Job#2 programs, Added Starters, capacity changes and running changes Including:Assembly feasibilityIssue resolution, validation and documentationChange Control (Determine tooling, equipment, facilities and labor costing)Tooling, equipment and facilities development and installationSupport in plant trials and prove-out associated with:Engineering concerns, Material Cost Reduction (MCR) actions, Engineering AlertsCapacity change actionsLabor cost studies and actionsSupport Vehicle Quality Review report out with manufacturing analysis using 6-Sigma problem solving toolsProcess development and production process sheet updatesQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.Knowledge and experience with manufacturing and assembly operations and/or vehicle launchesSelf-starter, requiring minimal directionProven problem solving capabilitiesStrong verbal and written communication and presentation skillsAbility to operate in a multi-tasking, demanding environment and meet timing deadlinesPreferred Qualifications:Background in Six Sigma and/or FMEA principlesProject Management skillsBody Construction Manufacturing Engineering program understandingYou may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice.
