POSITION TITLE Instrumentation Engineer, Staff – Testing (Technical Center) FUNCTION Engineering - Test EngineeringFLSA STATUS ExemptREPORTS TO Technical Center ManagerPosition SummaryAs team player within the Technical Center the role supports local and global related testing which includes the development of new test methods required for validation for product performance. They serve as the first point of contact for testing to aid internal and external customers in their testing needs. The role requires developing close relationships with the various teams to ensure proactive testing solutions are delivered.Key AccountabilitiesProvides leadership and program management for testing within the technical center to include but not limited to. Gas stand thermodynamic and functional testing and control strategiesEngine stand testing, including engine controlsElectrification product testing, test development, and stand integrationHigh and low cycle fatigue testing and test developmentComprehensive communications to all levels of the organizationWear testing and test developmentVibration and Harshness testing and test developmentSignal processing, Filtering, FFT analysisThermal imaging, High speed video, and laser technologiesManages planned utilization of existing equipment to its fullest potential.Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for the planning, organization, budget, integration, and completion of testing.Ensures internal and external documentation requirements are met.Creates and manages program timelines to meet critical milestones.Ensures customer team members are trained on BW project management process when needed.Must be able to leverage resources within the organization to meet goals.Must be willing to travel internationally 1-2 times per year.Enforce HR and EHS guidelines to ensure a safe work environmentQualificationsRequires a Bachelor’s degree or Applied Science. BSME, or BSEE. Masters’ preferred.12 years of experience or equivalent education and experienceRequires a minimum of 5 year’s experience with project management.Requires a minimum of 10 year’s experience in automotive product development.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) required.Broad background in engineering technical disciplines that include vibration, heat transfer, stress, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and controls.Proficient in Solid Modeling (Pro-E preferred), Structural /Thermal Mechanics FEA, Fluid Dynamics FEA, Harmonic Model and Vibration Analysis.Experience with instrumentation for measuring flow, pressure, temperature, imbalance, rotor motion, vibration, sound, and other measuring instruments.Technical competence with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GDT).Experience in statistical data analysis software (e.g. Minitab) would be a plus.Demonstrated team leadership experience.Proficient in Metallurgy, particularly with high temperature damage, fatigue of austenitic and ferromagnetic materialsStrong project management skills in resource, task, and budget planning are required.Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.Expertise with turbochargers and /or engines preferred.KEY COMPETENCIES Learning on the FlyProven Troubleshooting skillsFunctional/Technical SkillsSelf-KnowledgeInformingDrive for ResultsEthics & ValuesSalary Range $100,800 - $141,750Internal Use Only SalaryGlobal Terms of Use and Privacy StatementCarefully read the BorgWarner Privacy Policy before using this website.
