The cashier is responsible for creating a positive lasting impression on the customers and providing excellent customer service.Major Responsibilities:The major responsibilities for this position include:Provide a positive representation of Gerrity's Ace HardwareGreet customers entering and throughout the store and thank customers when possible, when they are leaving the storeForward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of managementMaintain awareness of all promotions and advertisementsPossess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of productsAnswer customers' questions and provide information on procedures and policiesClear customer checkout lines quickly and efficientlyFollow all cash register transaction proceduresPerform all other duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:The minimum requirements for this position include:Minimum of 1-2 years cashier/customer service experience preferredHigh School or GED equivalentExcellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situationsStrong problem-solving and organizational skillsAbility and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the businessPhysical Requirements:The minimum physical requirements for this position include:Employee must regularly move and/or lift 50lbsAbility to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency in order to read and understandWhile performing the duties, the employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balanceSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision with the ability to adjust focusPart-Time Benefits:Employee DiscountLimited Benefits for Part-Time Positions401(K) with Match and Profit SharingCompetitive WagesPersonal Time Off (PTO)Advancement Opportunities
