Security System Design Engineer

BEI Construction is seeking a Security System Design Engineer for our low voltage division. This position will be primarily remote, with periodic office and site visits, and will report directly to the division's General Manager. Primary position responsibilities include technical design, programming, testing, and commissioning of division projects.Responsibilities & Duties:Ability to design complex physical security systems, particularly with Access Control, CCTV and IntrusionCreate and deliver engineering physical layout, system security designs, mark-ups and programming/commissioning close out documentationAbility to follow complex instructions and diagrams to create or modify drawings using company design standards for customer and installation teamsReview of system design prior to installation and highlighting of any apparent technical, functional or compatibility issues with the design package while highlighting any deviation to client’s standardsBuild a complete bill of materials for our Project Management teamServe as a technical point of contact for all union and non-union employees within the divisionIn-depth testing and troubleshooting of access control and IP network video systemsPopulation of programming sheets and responsible for system programmingFollow assigned projects to final adjustments, test, troubleshoot and rectify as part of the commissioning and signoff processEnsure on-site clients are trained in the use of the installed systemCommunicate progress on jobs and provide regular status reports to the Project Manager to enable efficient resource planningAttend site meetings as required, representing the company in a professional manner.Explain drawings to construction teams and engineers to provide adjustments as necessaryReview completed construction drawings and cost estimates for accuracy and conformity to standards and regulationsTravel for site walkthroughs, bids, and oversight of installations will be required.Other duties as assignedQualifications:5+ year’s industry experience working with security installations, servicing, or designRelevant systems experience such as Lenel, Genetec, S2, OpenPath/other SaaS systems is requiredExperience carrying out bids, completing BOMs and producing quotations is preferredCompetency to perform technology research and pass further manufacturer certificationsAbility to multitask, work with Project and CAD teams, and work independentlyEffective communication with local service providers, clients, client project teams, and the BEI Project teamBenefits:100% paid medical, dental, vision, and basic life for employees (cost sharing for dependents)401(k) employer contributionAnnual bonus opportunityPaid vacation, sick, and holiday leaveAbout UsBEI Construction is a growing multi-jurisdictional union construction firm specializing in electrical construction projects, technology infrastructure, underground construction, and renewable energy solutions.
