Your Opportunity As a Landscape Architect/Urban Planner, within our Community Development business line, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of project types and play a significant role in our Asset Transformation team. Our highly experienced, multi-disciplinary team specializes in urban design, planning, landscape architecture, funding, and brownfields management. We collaborate with world class architects, engineers, resilience and climate planners, and environmental specialist across Stantec and the southeast. Project types include site specific redevelopment plans, small area plans, corridor and TOD plans, downtown master plans, and streetscapes. The Asset Transformation Team within Stantec assists both private and public sector clients in the visioning, design, and implementation of redevelopment projects. We connect the people, places, and resources that take a project from concept to reality. Your Key Responsibilities Work within defined project scopes, budgets and schedules. Work on the Asset Transformation team under the direction of licensed Landscape Architects and planners to assist in the development of projects throughout the southeast, in close collaboration with Stantec’s Buildings, Community Development, Urban Places, Environmental Services, and other project teams. Understand and execute the site inventory and analysis process necessary to initiate a project. Conducts research of local ordinances, land development codes, local and regional regulations to develop project due diligence reports and fully understand site and design feasibility. Investigate design variables, programmatic owner/client requirements, budget constraints, site constraints, and environmental and brownfield constraints. Understand building operation, pedestrian/ vehicular circulation, accessibility, planting design, site grading, and stormwater management needs to successfully layout a site. Prepare schematic, conceptual, design development and construction documents level plans for various project sites. Prepared 3D graphics using various rendering software to support project visioning. Prepare presentation materials, reports, and presentations. Prepare community engagement meeting materials and help facilitate engagement activities. Support marketing and business development efforts. Participate in meetings and presentations. Perform other duties as needed. Travel for community engagement meetings and project site visits as needed. Qualifications Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team. Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation. Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. Conceptual design and graphic skills using hand and computer rendering techniques. Developing knowledge of economic and legal issues involved in zoning codes, building codes and environmental regulations. Experience assisting with community engagement events including project workshops, design charrettes, and presentations, both virtually and in person. Technical design skills in site and planning projects across a range of project scales from less than one acre to hundreds of acres in size. Skills required include site design layout and understanding of grading and stormwater principals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, etc.), and SketchUp. Experience with Lumion or other 3-D visualization programs is preferred. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design, Urban Studies or related field. 3 years relevant experience.
