Accountant
MDW Associates is seeking an Accountant I to provide sound financial stewardship, and analysis to our National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) client at Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX. This role is located in Houston, TX and interested individuals must reside in the area or be immediately willing to relocate in order to support the customer with on-site meetings and other in-person requirements 5 days/week.The Accountant may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties:Familiar with accounting concepts such as: journal entries, general ledgers, debits/credits, reversals, cost accounting, and property accountingUtilize Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Support the accounting staff and audit process by compiling data from financial systems (including Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) and Business Objects) and source documents from physical filesSupport several areas including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reimbursable accounting and auditsPrepare financial reports for review by senior accounting personnelUnder contractor supervision, must be able to assess products and procedures for compliance with Government accounting standards and principlesMay verify that balances and activity reported in the financial statements are auditable, accurate, and completeMay perform or assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliation and support the monthly and annual closing processMay provide input on internal controls and process narrativesMay review/analyze data such as invoice documentation and source documentsMay post transactionsMay perform basic variance/trend analysis and forecasting activitiesRequired Experience/Skills0-2 years of experience in accounting or related fieldKnowledgeable of accounting concepts such as: journal entries, general ledgers, debits/credits, reversals, cost accounting, and property accountingMust be able to assess products and procedures for compliance with Government accounting standards and principlesEducation RequirementsCandidates for this position must possess a BS/BA degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accountingClearance Requirement(s)Public Trust - Candidates for this position must be submitted for a background investigation in order to satisfy government requirements.Company DescriptionIncorporated in 2012, MDW is a small business headquartered in McClean, VA with employees in various locations in the United States.
