We believe that technology is leading and transforming lives all over the world and we want to help develop the next generation of problem-solvers.If you join our team, we know you will have a fulfilling and rewarding role focused on giving back to our community, especially those that have been historically marginalized and underserved. Position OverviewThe Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of The Tech Interactive by maintaining accurate accounting records, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This exempt role is part of the Finance team and reports to the Controller.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral AccountingPrepare journal entries, including accruals, allocations, and adjustments per Controller directionMaintain the general ledger for assigned accounts and ensure accuracy of financial dataReconcile assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basisReview and correct posted data from various accounting software integrationsFinancial ReportingAssist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsSupport budget-to-actual variance analysis and reportingPrepare schedules and documentation for internal and external reporting needsAssist with grant reporting of financial data to funders as neededRevenue & ContributionsRecord and reconcile contributed revenue, including donations, grants, and pledgesTrack restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with donor intent and accounting standardsAssist development staff with financial tracking and reporting of contributed revenueAccounts Payable & ReceivableProcess invoices and ensure timely vendor paymentsMonitor accounts receivable, including program revenue and receivables from grants or pledgesMaintain supporting documentation for all transactionsAudit & ComplianceAssist with annual audit preparation, including schedules and supporting documentationAssist Controller with compliance with GAAP and nonprofit-specific accounting guidance (e.g., net asset classifications)Support preparation of Form 990 and other regulatory filingsInternal Controls & Process ImprovementMaintain and follow internal controls and accounting policiesIdentify opportunities for process improvements and efficienciesComplete additional related tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.Requirements and SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldMinimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience (nonprofit experience preferred)Working knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards strongly preferredExperience with accounting software, Quickbooks Online experience strongly preferredProficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesFamiliarity with fund accounting and restricted fund trackingWorking Conditions and SchedulePrimarily office-based with extended periods of computer workOccasional evening or weekend work may be required during audit or budget cyclesThis is an on-site role with the possibility of flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location.
