SENIOR BUYER
Responsible, specialized work of a technical nature in connection with the central purchasing operation of the County. Responsible for purchasing assigned commodity groups, including preparation of complex procurements, analysis of technical bids and proposals, and the preparation of purchase orders and term contracts. Work includes evaluating market conditions and trends, planning specific short- and long-range commodity objectives, and developing/surveying markets for best or new supply sources. Work is performed under the supervision of a designated superior and is reviewed for the attainment of desired results to assure conformance with established policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business/Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field; minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in large-scale procurement operations or for a governmental entity,
OR
An unrelated Bachelor's Degree/related Associate's Degree OR two (2) years of related college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours); minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in large-scale procurement operations or for a governmental entity,
OR
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in large-scale procurement operations or for a governmental entity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include experience in/with (must specify in application):
A governmental setting,
Training/supervising staff, and
Using Advantage/other automated financial system.
