Job Title: Director, Pharmaceutical Sciences Program LeadershipLocation: Boston, Massachusetts, United StatesType: Full TimeOur client is looking for a Director, Pharmaceutical Sciences Program Leadership to provide strategic and scientific leadership across complex global development programs. This role is responsible for driving end‑to‑end program strategy, influencing cross‑functional teams, and delivering innovative solutions that support successful product development and commercialization.Role OverviewThis leadership position plays a critical role in advancing multiple high‑impact development programs by combining deep scientific expertise with strong program management capabilities. The role requires collaboration across global teams, influencing stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with broader organizational and business objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership & StrategyLead strategic planning and execution for multiple complex development programs across global teams.Provide direction and oversight for cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of program objectives.Identify, assess, and mitigate risks while communicating effectively with stakeholders.Represent the function in governance forums and drive alignment across internal and external partners.Scientific & Technical LeadershipProvide expert scientific guidance across pharmaceutical development, from early research through commercialization.Lead innovation initiatives and ensure adoption of advanced methodologies and technologies.Serve as a trusted advisor and internal consultant on scientific and technical matters.Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory expectations, and best practices.Stakeholder Engagement & InfluenceBuild strong relationships across business units, global teams, and external partners.Influence strategic decisions by developing compelling business cases and communicating program value.Represent the organization in cross-functional, corporate, and industry-level discussions.Team Development & MentorshipMentor and develop team members, fostering leadership, technical growth, and collaboration.Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.Inspire teams to achieve high performance and adapt to evolving business needs.Operational Excellence & GovernanceEnsure strong governance frameworks, performance tracking, and execution discipline across programs.Oversee resource planning, including personnel, budget, and timelines.Drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for capability building.Required QualificationsAdvanced degree in a scientific discipline (PhD preferred; Master’s or Bachelor’s with extensive experience).Significant experience in pharmaceutical development and program leadership (typically 10+ years for PhD, or equivalent).Deep expertise across key areas such as process development, analytical sciences, manufacturing, and regulatory.Strong understanding of global regulatory requirements, quality standards, and development processes.Key Skills & CompetenciesProven leadership in managing complex, cross-functional, global programsStrong strategic thinking and decision-making abilitiesExpertise in risk management, resource planning, and program executionExceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to mentor teams and build organizational capabilityStrong business acumen with the ability to link scientific strategy to commercial outcomes
