Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher
Congressional School seeks an Early Childhood educator to lead one of our infant classrooms. The Lead Teacher will partner with the Assistants to plan and implement the daily program. The Lead Teacher will actively supervise the classroom and playgrounds at all times and observe, interact, and engage with children. The Lead Teacher must receive 16 hours of Early Childhood Education training every 12 months and must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with children, parents and co-workers.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesOversee and teach a class of children in a manner consistent with the philosophy and the goals of the SchoolPlan activities that encourage each child's growth in the areas of emotional, social, cognitive, and physical developmentRecognize and consider the individual needs of each child in relation to cultural and socio-economic background, disabilities, special talents and interests, style and pace of learningHelp children learn to think creatively, solve problems independently and respect themselves and othersArrange the decorations and learning environment in the classroomLead parent conferencesEnsure active supervision of the classroom and playgroundsMaintain strict confidentiality regarding children and their familiesMaintain cleanliness and safety within the classroomAttend and facilitate Early Childhood and licensing meetings and attend outside workshops as necessaryRegularly lift and carry children weighing up to 25 poundsRegularly bend, stoop and crouch in order to physically interact with children and ensure their safetyPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsIdeal candidates will have:Bachelor's degree in child-related fieldExperience working with young children in a group settingStrong initiative and organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAn ability to work in a joyful, collegial and collaborative environmentA sense of humor, warm personality, and growth mindset
