Better Care.Job Summary:The Phlebotomist is responsible for efficiently and accurately performing venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen collection in accordance with established protocols. This role ensures high standards of patient care, specimen integrity, and compliance with safety regulations while supporting clinical operations.Job Relationships:Reports to Site ManagerWorks collaboratively with all clinical staff and front office staff to ensure accurate specimen collection, patient comfort, and timely lab processingQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent requiredCertification as a Phlebotomy Technician (preferred but not required)Minimum of one year phlebotomy experience in a hospital, clinic, or laboratory setting requiredStrong knowledge of venipuncture and capillary puncture techniquesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered careResponsibilities and Duties:Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to obtain blood specimens for diagnostic testingVerify patient identity and confirm test requisitions before collectionPrepare specimens for transport, labeling, and processing in compliance with lab standardsMaintain accurate documentation of collections and specimen logsFollow OSHA, CLIA, and universal precautions for infection control and safetyMonitor and restock phlebotomy supplies; maintain cleanliness of work areaProvide clear instructions and reassurance to patients during specimen collectionAssist with proper handling, storage, and chain-of-custody requirements for specimensSupport physicians and nurses by ensuring timely specimen availability for diagnosticsParticipate in continuing education and training as requiredAll other duties related to specimen collection as assignedUrology Austin offers a competitive benefits package to eligible employees.
