This role provides valuable exposure to healthcare finance, reimbursement processes, and regulatory standards while helping maintain accurate financial records and efficient workflows.What You'll DoAssist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice review and data entrySupport general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliationsHelp with month-end close activities and financial reportsOrganize documentation for audits, cost reports, grants, and compliance reviewsTrack patient revenue, contractual adjustments, and reimbursement dataMaintain financial records in compliance with HIPAA and hospital policiesAssist with data analysis, reporting dashboards, and process improvement projectsComplete other assigned duties while gaining valuable workplace experienceWhat You'll LearnHands-on experience in healthcare accounting and finance operationsExposure to hospital financial systems, reporting, and regulatory requirementsPractical skills in Excel, financial analysis, and professional documentationRequiredWhat We're Looking ForCurrently enrolled in an Accounting, Finance, Business, or related degree programBasic understanding of accounting principlesStrong attention to detail and organizationAbility to maintain confidentiality with sensitive informationStrong communication skillsPreferredCoursework in intermediate accounting, cost accounting, or healthcare financeInterest in healthcare finance or rural health administrationWork EnvironmentOffice setting within a hospitalPrimarily sedentary with computer-based workOccasional lifting of office materials (up to 20 lbs)Must follow hospital safety, confidentiality, and infection control policiesWhy Join GMC?This internship is designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience while helping you explore a future career in healthcare finance.
