Lunar - Metrology Technician (A Shift)

This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin design, manufacture, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health and safety, product integrity and continuous improvement processes serve the Blue Origin Mission and Vision.As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will inspect development and flight vehicle components for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of providing accurate data on tight tolerance high value components to determine configuration per engineering designs. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.Position Specific Details Shift: A | Mon-Thurs (5am-3:30pm)Location: Space Coast, FLRelocation: AvailableTravel: Up to 10% for training and support activitiesResponsibilities: Perform dimensional inspections using various metrology systems including Laser Trackers, CMMs, Blue Light Scanners, and Romer ArmsProgram, setup, and operate measurement systems utilizing software such as Spatial Analyzer, PC-DMIS, or equivalent metrology software platformsSetup and utilize mechanical inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, height gages, optical comparators, surface plates, and various precision gagesRead and interpret engineering drawings and design data to inspect machined and received componentsPerform first article, in-process, and final dimensional inspections of aerospace components and assembliesCreate and manage data analysis templates and inspection reports using Microsoft Excel and other documentation toolsProvide dimensional feedback to machinists, manufacturing teams, and engineers to support production and design decisionsGenerate and document Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) with accurate dimensional data and analysisManage and track tooling inspections and calibration schedulesImplement process improvements such as inspection cycle time reductions and enhanced measurement techniquesMaintain configuration control on all inspection files, programs, and job recordsSafely work within an industrial environment around flight critical hardwareQualifications: 5-8 years of experience in dimensional inspection of aerospace or precision manufacturing componentsBlueprint reading skills including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5M-2009 and ASME Y14.5-2018Proficient in the use of precision hand tools, gages, optical comparators, and surface plate inspection techniquesExperience with at least one advanced metrology system (Laser Tracker, CMM, Blue Light Scanners, Romer Arms, Taylor Hobson, or similar coordinate measurement equipment)Ability to inspect tight tolerance, high value components with accuracy and repeatabilityFamiliarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management Systems and/or related quality systems and programsStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality standardsDesired: Experience operating multiple metrology systems including CMMs, Laser Trackers, Blue Light Scanners, Romer Arms, and/or Taylor HobsonSpatial Analyzer, PC-DMIS, or other metrology software programming experienceCAD system knowledge (Creo, Windchill, or similar)Experience with Model Based Engineering/Definition per ASME Y14.41-2012Advanced machining knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processesDesign for Manufacturability and Producibility knowledgeExperience operating material handling equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardwareExperience in tooling design reviews ensuring compliance with ASME requirementsKnowledge of tooling source inspection and Method of Acceptance ToolingKnowledge of metrology equipment calibration standards (ASME B89.4.19, ASME B89.4.10360.2-2008, or equivalent)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsProblem-solving skills and ability to work independentlyCulture StatementDon't meet all desired requirements?
