We provide expert legal services in areas such as contract disputes, class actions, business torts, shareholder and partnership disputes, antitrust litigation and intellectual property litigation. Our team handles all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation counseling and strategic planning to trial and appellate proceedings. By leveraging our deep legal expertise, global reach and strategic insights, we help clients navigate complex legal challenges, protect their business interests, and achieve favorable outcomes through both court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution methods.Position SummaryWe are currently looking for mid-level associates with 3-5 years of civil commercial litigation experience to join our Miami office.Candidates should possess excellent academic credentials and strong legal writing, research and analytical skills, as well as strong oral communication and advocacy ability. Candidates should demonstrate the analytical rigor to grasp the legal intricacies of complex disputes, the competitive spirit needed to thrive in adversarial matters and an enthusiasm for constructing persuasive legal arguments.As an associate in Miami, candidates will be given significant, hands-on responsibility in all phases of litigation, including trials and appeals. We seek an associate with the experience, intelligence and proactive drive to serve as a lead associate on matters from day one and who are committed to continually improving their skillset. The ideal candidate will research and draft critical briefs, appellate filings, pleadings and legal memoranda; develop and execute discovery strategies; manage junior associates; and play an important role in direct and cross examinations, client communications, depositions, expert witness preparation and court hearings and trials. We are looking for a go-getter who can operate effectively within a team and interact professionally with clients.Duties and AccountabilitiesParticipate in strategy for matters ranging from complex commercial litigation, class actions, business-tort litigation, arbitration-related litigation and regulatory investigationsTake a hands-on role in trials and appeals, including drafting motions and preparation for direct and cross examinationsDraft briefs (including appellate briefs), pleadings, memoranda, correspondence, examination outlines and other documentsPlay a key role in document and deposition discovery, trial preparation and trialsConduct legal research and analyze evidence to develop facts and strategyParticipate in and conduct witness interviews, client meetings and negotiationsProvide direct assistance to partners and senior lawyers on matters arising in the course of day-to-day provision of legal servicesSupervise and mentor junior lawyers and support staffCollaborate with partners on business development initiatives, including pitches and other client-facing opportunitiesQualifications3-5 years of Commercial Litigation experience in a law firm setting with a focus on civil litigation, this can be inclusive of 1-2 years of a judicial clerkshipJudicial clerkship experience, particularly with Florida courts or federal courts, is strongly preferredStrong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinkerExcellent brief-writing and legal research skills, including experience drafting first drafts of substantive motions and appellate briefsOutstanding oral communication and advocacy skillsCommercial and business awarenessKeen eye for detail with an ability to see the bigger pictureStrong organizational and time management skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure, including when juggling multiple projects with tight deadlinesStrong professional presence and client-service focusTeam player with sound judgmentProactive, resourceful, takes initiative and a self-starterFluency in English; Spanish or Portuguese language skills are helpful but not requiredAdmitted to the Florida Bar and in good standing (or willing and eligible to seek admission)This role reports to Partner Equal OpportunitiesWhite & Case is committed to creating a fair workplace.
