Temporary Help Desk Agent
Help Desk Agent We are seeking dependable and customer-focused individuals to join our Help Desk team in support of the upcoming election. This role is responsible for assisting election workers by providing accurate information, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring smooth communication across departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Learn all election content outlined in the Help Desk manual.
Provide excellent customer service to election workers in Harris County.
Assist other election departments as needed (e.g., projects, front desk backup).
Be able to multitask (e.g., speak on the phone, type on a computer, and read from a manual).
Arrive on time for each shift.
Recognize when to request assistance or additional clarification.

Must meet all eligibility requirements to register to vote in the State of Texas.
Experience
One (1) year customer service experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to work under stress and able to work without direct supervision.
Knowledgeable of the general operations of an election and the Harris County website.
Be professional and have good interpersonal skills. Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office suite, and be willing to learn new computer programs and applications.
Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and possess excellent communication skills.
Understands and can explain the ePollBook application and the voting process.
Adherence to policies and laws are a must. Provided written resources encapsulate both Harris County and Secretary of State policies and laws.
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
Temp Full-time | Position End Date: June 5, 2026 - This is a temporary position being onboarded through a Harris Countycontracted agency.
30 - 35 hours per week with the possibility of overtime in high-need time of election periods.
Qualified individuals may be asked to work future elections. Days and hours of work cover every day of the week, though individuals are normally not scheduled to work more than 5 days a week.
Work week = 5 days a week, must be able to work weekends.
Holidays off (Memorial Day 5/25/2026)
Between election periods hours will be reduced, and mandatory vacations will be scheduled.
During election: shifts range from 8 - 10 hours. Three mandatory days in the election, shifts will range from 14 - 20 hours.
Block off periods during which time off is not permitted - 5/1/2026 - 5/31/2026.
Time off request can be submitted at designated times.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Seated at desk in warehouse.
This job is primarily a sedentary role, walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
