Cardiac Sonographer
The Cardiac Sonographer performs high-quality diagnostic sonography examinations using ultrasonic equipment to evaluate anatomical, pathological, and functional data. This role supports physicians by producing accurate diagnostic images and preliminary reports across multiple ultrasound modalities.

Locations : Multiple (Richmond, VA and Newport News, VA)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures using appropriate techniques and protocols
Produce diagnostic images using Doppler, abdominal or other ultrasound.
Conduct examinations in the following areas:
Echocardiography / Cardiac / Vascular / General Ultrasound
Explain procedures to patients and address questions or concerns
Enter patient information and test data into computerized documentation systems
Generate detailed preliminary diagnostic reports
Communicate STAT or critical findings per organizational protocols
Obtain patient consent and ensure documentation is properly stored in medical records
Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided biopsies and invasive procedures
Ensure a safe environment when administering contrast materials
Apply age-specific knowledge when performing exams
Assist with patient transport as needed
Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment (PPE)
Contribute to the development and improvement of ultrasound Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Physical ability to stand, bend, kneel, lift, and move patients and equipment up to 50 pounds
Education & Experience
Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program (required)
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (preferred)
Must have Cardiac Sonographer experience
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification required to perform echocardiograms
Must be registered in the ultrasound modality performed (e.g., Cardiac, vascular, general)
BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within first 90 days of employment
