Database Developer (SQL / SSIS / ETL)

Position Overview Maricopa County is seeking a *Database Developer* to design, develop, implement, and maintain database solutions supporting business applications and enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have strong *SQL development, relational database design, query optimization, ETL, and SSIS* experience. This role will work closely with Business Analysts, developers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into secure, reliable, and high-performing database solutions. Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, implement, and maintain *database objects and relational database structures*. * Write, test, troubleshoot, and optimize complex *SQL queries*. * Analyze query performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance-tuning strategies. * Design and implement *ETL pipelines using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)*. * Develop and maintain various *SQL jobs* and database processes. * Build database solutions that meet defined business requirements while maintaining *data integrity, security, and performance*. * Develop database interfaces that enable applications and third-party/vendor systems to interact effectively with enterprise databases. * Plan and develop test data for new and modified database applications. * Troubleshoot and resolve database, query, and integration issues. * Work with Business Analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver database solutions. * Support data integration from multiple sources through reliable ETL processes. * Document database structures, processes, and technical solutions as required. Required Qualifications * *2+ years of progressively responsible programming experience*, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. * Bachelor’s degree in *Information Technology, Computer Science*, or equivalent experience. * Strong SQL development and database programming skills. * Experience with relational *DBMS platforms*, such as: * SQL Server * MySQL * PostgreSQL * Oracle * Strong knowledge of *relational database design and modeling*. * Ability to write and optimize SQL queries for performance. * Strong *ETL development experience, specifically SSIS*. * Experience troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, Business Analysts, and business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with *Microsoft Azure*. * Experience with *.NET / C#*. * Experience with *GitHub / Git*. * Experience working with enterprise or government database environments. * Experience with database performance tuning and optimization. Ideal Candidate Profile The strongest candidates will be *Database Developers, SQL Developers, ETL Developers, or SSIS Developers* with hands-on experience in *SQL, relational database development, performance tuning, and SSIS-based ETL*.
