As an R&D Lead, you’ll shape both cutting-edge AI products and security-first development from day one.About The RoleWe’re seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to guide our product team in developing and deploying scalable, AI-enabled systems. You’ll take end-to-end ownership of major backend and data initiatives, mentor a team of engineers, and collaborate with Product, Research, Operation, Sales, and Information Security to maintain robust compliance.What You’ll DoLead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, AI-driven backend and data systems, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and performance standards.Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of R&D projects, from concept through prototyping and deployment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver innovative solutions.Serve as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to develop, implement, and enforce information security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of information assets.What We’d Like To See In You6+ years of professional software development experience, with 2+ years in a lead or tech-lead roleStrong backend expertise: Java, C++, Scala, Python—plus cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS) and data frameworks (e.g., Spark)Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, microservices, and distributed systemsFamiliarity with both SQL and NoSQL databasesWell-honed software engineering practices: version control, CI/CD, unit testing, code reviewsExperience architecting and deploying production-grade systems and mentoring engineersStrong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skillsProactive leadership: self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable steering projects in ambiguityPassion for learning, innovation, and advancing AI-driven productsPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldExperience with security best practices (OWASP, secure coding, API security)Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, EO 14117)Experience with containerization, orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), Infrastructure as CodeCulture FitMission alignment: If you want to use AI to dramatically improve people's lives, we will give you the best possible platform to realize this mission.Self-directed: We work best with people that are driven, motivated, and aspire to greatness.
