Job Title: Solutions Architect Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid)Job Type: 6+ Months ContractJob Summary:The position is responsible for providing Infrastructure Architecture support for internal Application Services teams. Not filling the vacancy will result in difficulty supporting mission-critical applications related to the health and well-being of the public. We will not be able to accommodate requests for adding new or maintaining existing applications and services in a timely manner due to lack of availability of existing resources.Job ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and integrate system data models and design to promote data sharing, eliminate redundancy, and provide for the efficient and effective use of enterprise data resources. Coordinate with and provide technical advice to the Project Manager to develop project plans. Coordinate with data stewards to develop, communicate, and enforce Data Classification policies and standards. Create and maintain the metadata repository, including developing and maintaining formal descriptions of data, data structures, and data flow diagrams. Create, maintain, and verify system-level design. Define and enforce data standards, procedures, and guidelines to ensure data integrity, dependability, quality, and usability through appropriate security, verification, and data management practices. Develop an Information Architecture Model supporting and consistent with Enterprise Information Management. Develop and maintain the enterprise-wide data model to ensure integrated use across all applications. Develop and manage configuration management standards, processes, and policies. Document application controls needed to meet security standards. Ensure data integration with internal organizations and with external business and IT communities. Evaluate and recommend software fixes to resolve problems. Facilitate/lead team members for application environment consolidation, migration, or integration efforts. Gather, organize, and track requirements and issues related to IT solutions. Lead implementation activities for IT solutions. Make recommendations to application developers on software integration for existing software. Perform development of a data management strategy to ensure data security and appropriate data retention. Prepare for and provide an organized and professionally facilitated environment for SDT sessions. Provide data modeling and design guidance including identification of data entities, data dependencies, and data relationships. Recommend solutions based on Technical Impact Analysis (TIA) of proposed infrastructure changes to ensure feasibility and cost effectiveness. Review Enterprise Architecture Solution Patterns and Reference Models for specific application systems. Analyze solution assessments cataloged in architecture libraries for similar system design guidelines. Revise and validate project management documents by applying organizational PMM and SEM standards to IT solutions. Revise and validate technical designs, specifications, and diagrams. Verify the architectural integrity of the application environment. Required Qualifications5+ years of experience administering and supporting RHEL environments 5+ years of experience working with Windows Server in enterprise environments 3+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, including querying and basic database support Experience designing and supporting native and hybrid cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud 5+ years of experience creating, updating, and maintaining system and technical documentation 3+ years of Network Administration experience, including troubleshooting and support Experience architecting and supporting container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes (K8s) and/or OpenShift Ability to create and maintain architecture artifacts using tools like Visio, LucidChart, and/or Draw.io Exposure to application architecture, including familiarity with WebLogic, WebSphere, or JBoss Experience designing redundant and scalable database deployments for Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server Hands-on experience securing network infrastructure, web applications, and databases Working knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language such as C#, Java, Python, Bash, or PowerShell Experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, or Veracode Exposure to IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS deployment models Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and/or CloudFormation Experience administering and architecting web server environments, including IIS, Apache, and WAF Experience with Cloudflare or similar platforms
