Logistics Coordinator

Job Title: Logistics CoordinatorJob DescriptionThis role involves the administration, coordination, and execution of both domestic and international shipping services. The primary focus will be on reviewing import and export documents, ensuring the presence of all customs invoices and shipment papers, and preparing paperwork for clearance. Additional responsibilities include creating quotes, coordinating with carriers to set up shipments, and resolving shipping exceptions.Responsibilities+ Prepare, review, and edit import and export documents such as Commercial Invoices, Bills of Lading, packing slips, and shipping labels for international routing.+ Perform administrative tasks, including preparing reports and presentations and conducting analysis using various software and databases.+ Assess document accuracy by verifying country of origin/export, IOR, terms of sale, and value to comply with federal regulations.+ Follow up daily on documentation discrepancies, requiring effective troubleshooting and communication with customers and partners internationally.+ Quote shipping rates for domestic and international parcel and freight shipments.+ Set up freight shipment pickups and track them through delivery.+ File Electronic Export Information (EEI) online with US Customs and Border Protection for eligible export shipments.+ Escalate customer complaints and requests with carriers, ensuring follow-up and customer satisfaction.+ Collaborate with all departments to resolve package delivery or shipment issues.+ Perform all duties in compliance with quality and safety systems, policies, and procedures.Essential Skills+ 2+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in freight brokerage.+ Experience in logistics, inventory, supply chain, shipping and receiving, import, and export.+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including order entry and purchase orders.+ Experience with HTS classification and working with freight forwarders.+ Experience with customs entry for a variety of commodities.+ Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.+ Basic computer skills; experience with FedEx Shipping Manager and UPS WorldShip software preferred.+ Strong customer service skills.+ Ability to prioritize in a high-volume, fast-paced shipping environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Excel.+ Experience with FedEx Systems.Work EnvironmentThe position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring onsite presence 3-4 days a week with flexible hours from 8am-5pm, 9am-5:30pm, or 9:30am-6pm (with a 30-minute flex). The role is part of a growing team led by the Director of Global Logistics, collaborating with a shipping and receiving team of approximately 20 people. The company offers a contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for growth as the team expands.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Gaithersburg, MD.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.04 - $28.85/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
