Melt Shop Floater- Columbus FRG

Division: Steel Dynamics Overview: Floater position available for assisting anywhere in the assigned department. Responsibilities: Housekeeping Safe operation of all area cranes and mobile equipment Scrap disposal using cutting torches Operation of sample shears, strapping and packaging equipment Operation of walking beam conveyors and associated handling equipment Support routine maintenance activities, downturn work, and preventative maintenance checks Continuous observations and recording of quality data Various utility functions assigned by area supervisor Qualifications: Strong safety awareness Good communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic) Self-motivated with the ability to work consistently without direct supervision Works well with others and independently Quality and detail-oriented Mechanically inclined Willingness to work scheduled and unscheduled Ability to work routinely in a hot Repetitive stretching, reaching, lifting, and walking will be required to support routine responsibilities Preferred Experience working in an industrial setting
