Bilingual Teacher Position Title: Bilingual TeacherLicensure: Bachelor's degree in Education requiredEndorsement: Must have Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish); Must speak, read and write SpanishClassification: CertifiedJob Goal: To provide instruction and functional curriculum support for Bilingual students. To provide a personalized instructional program that is compatible with the abilities, needs and learning characteristics of each identified Bilingual student.Performance Responsibilities:Provide bilingual instruction in a variety of subjects to children whose primary language is SpanishInstruct students in full curriculum, possibly in a dual language programPrepare course objectives following state and school guidelinesKeep attendance and grade reportsServe as teacher of record and will manage a caseload of bilingual students for pull out service deliveryHold parent teacher conferencesEffectively utilize district technologies appropriate to the positionWork collaboratively with general and special education teachers, support personnel, administrators and parents in an environment which will enable identified students to succeed in their efforts to learn language literacyMonitor student growth and collaboratively identify and deliver interventionsCollect and analyze student achievement data to demonstrate student growth (e.g. running records, progress monitoring instruments)Assist in gathering data and preparing reports to meet district, state and federal guidelines relating to ELL and maintain all necessary records as required by the programProvide district leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of the district wide ELL programmingProvide content knowledge and pedagogical expertise regarding bilingual programming including: instructional strategies, lesson development, program development, assessment techniques, interpretation of assessment data to document student progress and plan instruction, strategies for differentiation, practices that promote learningProvide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative practices for ELL through various activities such as: formal and informal discussions, coaching sessions, demonstration lessons, study groups, staff meetings, professional development and/or training programs and workshopsBig Hollow School District #38 offers a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, and vision insurance options, life insurance options, participation in the Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) or IMRF (depending on position), paid sick and personal leave, other benefits as outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement
