Incumbents must be able to perform the essential function of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.Performs all tasks associated with mosquito surveillance and eradication, including trap maintenance/monitoring, specimen collection/processing in field and laboratory environments, and conducting spray missionsLeads daily Vector Control field and basic lab operations, incorporating fundamental Integrated Pest Management procedures ensuring continued compliance, efficiency, and safety Coordinates and participates in the handling, mixing, and application of pesticides- enforcing all applicable laws, and safety regulationsCoordinates daily work of seasonal staff; provides training and monitors work performanceConducts a variety of basic laboratory tests and interprets/reports results in a timely mannerCompletes and maintains thorough reports, records, and documents Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Vector Control regulations, methodology, pesticide labels, and equipmentPerforms regular maintenance and calibration of equipmentMaintains a working relationship with pilots, vendors, and public and private agenciesOversees Vector Control activities in the absence of the Vector Control DirectorMaintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.Typical QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED equivalent; AND one (1) year of pest control experiencePrefer at least one (1) year experience managing or supervising staff Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver’s License, or equivalentMust possess or acquire a North Dakota Commercial / Governmental Pesticide Applicators Certification within three (3) months of start dateSuccessful applicants must pass a background check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening Work is performed in a variety of settings, including office, laboratory, and outdoor environments. Exposure to extreme temperatures may occur.Exposure to pesticides, pressurized chemicals, and chemical vaporsMay be required to lift up to 40 poundsCompensation: Pay rate starts at $28-$32/hour and is based on qualifications and experience.
