Sr. Packaging EngineerWhat to ExpectTesla is seeking a highly motivated Packaging Engineer to join our Packaging team in developingworld-class designs for automation equipment. You will play a key role on the team and will be theone who brings it all together to drive technical execution of packaging projects across several Vehicleand Energy Product platforms. This is a very unique opportunity to engage with all facets of Tesladevelopment from technology and design through component delivery and final manufacturing. Thesuccessful candidate must have the ability to work quickly and efficiently with a high level of precision,have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented, and not afraid to re-definetradition.What You'll DoLead end-to-end engineered packaging projects for Tesla Vehicle and Energy platformsInterface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Introduction, andOperations partners to gather and develop packaging requirements• Partner with Supply Chain and Logistics to drive projects to enable the most efficient deliveryof parts possible without sacrificing part quality or manufacturability• Provide design direction and development plans of protective packaging containers, dunnageand unique shipping racks – domestic and international• Apply industrial design techniques of CAD, technical drawings, including datum structure,GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis• Monitor KPI's and work with Packaging Design Engineers to develop world-class packagingstandards and continue to improve upon them• Drive expendable to returnable projects and participate in sustainability initiatives; Manageproject budgets, risks, and change management; Assist in vendor selection and vendormanagementWhat You'll Bring• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Packaging, Industrial Design, or equivalentwork experience with evidence of exceptional ability• Working knowledge of CAD, and technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T andtolerance stack up analysisFamiliarity with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, injection molding etc.Strong knowledge in a large variety of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam, etc.);Experience with designing to standards such as ASTM, Mil-Spec, etc.• Strong understanding of packaging testing and validation; Capable of managing multiplepriorities at once without sacrificing quality of results• Proficient at-risk management and communication; Team player with strong process andcontinuous improvement mindset• Travel up to 30% required
