Powered by Care.Classification: Non-ExemptEssential Functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.These crews are responsible for going into residential and commercial areas working on underground utilities and working with their crew to complete tasks for the day.Roles and Responsibilities:Assist crew leader in construction/ reconstruction and maintenance workAssist equipment operators, swamping, hand digging, locating underground obstructionsWork with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and other necessary toolsSignal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materialsWork safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers and dump truckClean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazardsComplete duties as assignedSuccess Factors:Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shiftAbility to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneelingAbility to understand and follow specific oral and written instructionsAbility to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workersAbility to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policyEnglish usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reportsWillingness and ability to learn additional skillsExperience and Education:High school diploma or equivalent desiredExperience working with underground utilities desiredCDL A is a plusBilingual English/Spanish is a plusAdditional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver's License is required within two weeks of employment.Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.Notes:The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.
