Overview of PositionResponsibilities include coaching the designated sport under the direction of the Head Coach, assists with the Varsity team, coaches the JV (2nd) and/or JVC (3rd) team including assisting in providing guidance, instruction and experience to enhance students' personal, physical and social growth and development. This position may be held in addition to a classroom teaching or other work assignment.Position reports to: Building Principal/Athletic Administrator and to Building Athletic Director. Receives direction from Head Coach.Please note that completed fingerprints and first aid and CPR certifications are necessary for this assignment. Costs related to these requirements are the perspective volunteers obligation. Seattle Public Schools does not compensate or reimburse for costs related. Please see your Athletic Director/Coordinator.Essential FunctionsPrepares student-athletes mentally and physically for athletic competition. Enhances student athlete's personal, physical and social growth and development in a culturally diverse environment. Plans and supervises scheduled workouts and games for assigned team. Instructs participants in the skills and techniques of the position played in the sport. Keeps abreast of current sport knowledge and coaching techniques in designated sport by attending clinics and reviewing related literature. Maintains current knowledge of WIAA and Metro rules, regulations and bylaws. Attends Varsity contests as requested and provides support for the Head Coach in decision making and management of assigned sports events. Assists the Head Coach in management of District-owned equipment, maintenance of records, issuing athletic awards and other functions associated with promotion and management of the designated sport program. Attends meetings and clinics as required by the Athletic Department, including attending the League pre-season coaches meeting and annual WIAA sponsored rule clinics as they apply to the particular sport. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective?functioning of the work unit. For head coach, must be at least 21 years of age.Hourly staff accrue sick leave at the rate of 1:40 per the Washington Paid Sick Leave law; eligible for health benefits after 630 hours under conditions of the School Employees Benefits Board through the state of Washington.This position is not eligible for Health benefits.Salary SchedulePlease find the salary schedule associated with this role and others like it HERE.01Please indicate your school specific preference.
