Cashiering and Finance Specialist (FINANCIAL SVC ANL 3 CX)

Reporting to the Accounting Operations Manager, with a high degree of independence, mange the daily cashiering operations of UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (UCD CPE). Support collection of over $15 million in course fee payments annually, maintaining proper cash handling, daily statements of cash collection and posting course revenue using UC Davis CPE and UCD financial information systems. Collaborate and train UC Davis CPE staff who manage alternative student funding, payment processing and course enrollments on cash handling policies, processes and compliance. Collaborate with CPE Student Services to ensure proper financial reporting. Work closely with UCD cashiers and accounting offices to accurately manage cash, check, credit card, and electronic transfers. Responsible for the accuracy of division revenue accounting, including identifying and resolving discrepancies.Apply By Date: May 18, 2026QualificationsMinimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the positionBachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / trainingExperience in financial operations, cashiering, revenue accounting, or accounts receivable. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and standard reconciliation practices.Experience reconciling financial transactions, identifying discrepancies, and resolving variances. Strong analytical skills to review financial data, identify discrepancies, and determine root causes. Ability to independently research and resolve complex financial issues, including chargebacks and account variances.Experience using financial systems, accounting software, and/or student information systems to process, track, and manage payments. Advanced proficiency in Excel or similar tools for reconciliation, reporting, and data analysis.Experience handling cash, credit card, and electronic payment transactions in a high-volume environment. Knowledge of cashiering operations, accounts receivable processes, and revenue tracking.Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures related to financial operations or cash handling. Understanding of internal controls, audit practices, and financial compliance requirements.Ability to analyze trends and recommend process or system improvements.Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal departments, campus partners, and external stakeholders. Ability to handle sensitive financial interactions (e.g., payment issues, collections) with professionalism and discretion.Preferred QualificationsExperience researching and analyzing data with skills to think logically and identify anomalies, trends and potentially invalid data. Professional experience and political acumen in handling sensitive or difficult situations, maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics. Experience managing projects, analyzing data, developing validation procedures and audits to improve data quality.
