They demonstrate thorough knowledge of human anatomy and physiology as well as image quality. Applying professional knowledge, they prepare patients for procedures, educate them, and respond to questions or concerns. The Technologist ensures age-appropriate communication, safety needs, patient education, and principles of physical and functional growth and development. They demonstrate an understanding of patient positioning, imaging technique, radiation safety, and infection control. The MRI Technologist oversees and trains students, providing patient care and services as part of their training. They verify the ordered exam and appropriateness using assessment data and principles of growth and development. Positioning the patient and equipment is key to achieving optimal images. They work with physicians to evaluate images and determine whether additional images are needed. The Technologist applies radiation safety techniques and devices to minimize exposure to patients and staff. Overall, the role encompasses patient preparation, education, communication, and adherence to safety protocols.
