Role: Lead 6500 EngineerLocation: Ashburn, VADuration: 6+ Month with Ext.Looking local folks only or who can relocate to VA.Job Description:Expert technical knowledge of the Ciena 6500 platform, scripting, and troubleshootingCan quickly ramp up on new procedures and instructions, and can then train other team membersCan aid in coaching team members on technical questionsCapable of understanding big picture implications of process decisions, and provide feedback on optimization opportunities as requiredWork in AWS Red Zones on Metro Ciena 6500 DeploymentsRequires strong knowledge of OLS (Optical Line Systems) and photonics/DWDM.Ability to read and understand Signal Flow Drawings is a mustAbility to troubleshoot optical issues such as loss, ORL/Reflection/power deviations, miss fibering etc.Proper fiber cleaning/scoping knowledge is a mustWill use Optical power meters, VFL for troubleshootingAbility to use OTDR and an understanding of OTDR outputsWill be using AWS Automation/Workflows so will need a strong aptitude to jump in and use new platforms.Must be able to work independently without constant guidance and support AWS folks with technical issues/questions related to 6500Ability to work in a fast-paced environmentExperience turning up and testing 6500 Photonic Line Systems requiredPrior Tech support role supporting Ciena 6500 a plus
