DescriptionThe Best Teams are Created and Maintained Here.Job Summary* The Landscaper III provides skilled landscape maintenance for industrial, commercial, and public properties. Working independently, this role performs complex landscaping tasks, operates commercial-grade equipment safely, and ensures the proper care of plant materials and other landscape elements.Duties and Responsibilities:Proactively maintain site detailLead and perform job duties when the Crew Leader is not on siteWork with the Crew Leader to solve problems and overcome job and schedule challengesComplete punch list items without supervisionOffer solutions to deliver quality resultsCut turf using various-sized power mowers, trimming, and edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blowerPrune shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habit or to remove damaged branchesIdentify irrigation system problems and work with the Crew Leader to correctProperly repair broken sprinkler headsPlant and maintain flower bedsOperate the edger and line trimmer along sidewalks, flower beds, trees, buildings, fences, and other objectsPick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris onto the turf before mowing.Mulch the leaves and organic matter when mowing.Perform weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hula hoeTrain team members on preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers; connect trucks and trailers safely and correctlyIdentify common weeds and recommend methods for controlCoach and remind the team of the "Safety Topic" tailgate talk throughout the week/monthAssist the Crew Leader/Production Manager in coaching team membersMaintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with guests and customersEducation and Experience:At least 18 years oldEnthusiastic and dependableAbility to safely work with equipment like power saws and cuttersCertified on level 3 equipment (bed edger, chainsaw, power pole, pruner, leaf vacuum, skid steer)Certified to apply pesticidesHas demonstrated 6 months of accident-free performancePhysical Demands/Requirements:Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)Be at least 18 years old (21 if operating company provided vehicles)Possess strong stamina and have the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.Able to safely operate landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers).Able to bend, stop and twist continuously throughout the day and perform manual labor using a variety of hand tools (e.g. shovels, rakes)You are able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, head protection)Landscapers who will be operating a BrightView fleet vehicle are required to have a valid driver's license and meet company standards as it relates motor vehicle performance identified on a state issued motor vehicle record check.Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed.Ability to maintain, in your possession at all times, required medications to address any known allergic reactions should they occur.Work Environment:Ability to work outdoors/indoors in moderate to extreme weather conditions (e.g., temperatures more than 100°F, temperatures below 32°F, various levels of humidity)Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.Work outdoors near automotive traffic, bodies of water, fumes, dust, mechanical and/or electrical hazards.Ability to work in environments where extended periods of loud noise are present.Ability to work in environments where exposure to allergens such as pollen and rag weed, insects such as bees and spiders and reptiles such as lizards and snakes.BrightView Landscapes, LLC is an Equal Opportunity and E-Verify Employer.This job description is subject to change at any time.BrightView offers a suite or health, wellness, and financial benefits to full-time team members.
