Join our team, where your expertise can make a true impact!The purpose of the role is to establish and manage underground development and infrastructure construction activities for the Ledbetter Underground (LUG) Project being undertaken by Haile Gold Mine. Co-ordinate the daily activities between contractors and LUG Management for the various development and execution projects being undertaken onsite.Operational ResponsibilitiesEnsure communication with the Contractor, HUG Operations, and LUG Project Management for all daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans and schedules. Coordinate functions during the development, approval, and execution phases of Capital Works. Maintain Master Project Schedule – ensure schedule reflects asbuilts and weekly progress update HUG Technical services and Senior Project Engineer of deviations from baselineEnsure all works under area of control are completed to a standard that is fit for purpose and meets the end users’ requirements. Other tasks as assigned by ManagementProject ManagementSupport project execution to meet technical, quality, budgetary, and scheduling requirements. Review construction drawings and specification set out by the designer. Ensure document control standards are followed throughout the life of the project. Support development of updated forecasts and budget with senior level and management. Collaborate with Cost Controller and Purchasing to ensure performance reporting is complete within deadlines. Health, Safety, and EnvironmentComply with OceanaGold Health and Safety Policy and Environment Policy. Promoting safety awareness and environmental responsibility amongst company and contract personnel. Report all personal injuries and incidents and assisting with investigations. Actively supporting and participate in safety and environmental initiatives. Accepting accountability to ensure personal safety and the safety of others whilst protecting the environment. Monitor the reporting of workplace incidents and hazards to ensure effective risk mitigation is maintained. Undertake workplace inspections and audits to ensure site standards are being adhered to. Support incident investigations that occur within area of control. QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related fieldExperience7-10 years of underground experience is preferredExperience in mine planning using DESWIK.sched or other scheduling software’s (previous experience with DESWIK.sched will be highly regarded). Experience in scheduling with Microsoft Projects preferredPrevious experience in civil or mining construction highly regardedStrong computer literacy skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry standard softwarePositive attitude, strong work ethic, flexibility, and willingness to see projects through to completion are a must.Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see. Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday. Work will require underground underground and surface time, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity. Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in an underground/surface mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
