Research Fellow
Research Fellow, RNA Biology and Neuro-OncologyBalaj Laboratory · Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School · Boston, MAMassachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School invite applications for a full time Research Fellow position in the laboratory of Dr. Leonora Balaj, located on the main MGH campus in Boston. The laboratory investigates RNA, EV biology, and liquid biopsy in glioma, with the goal of translating molecular discoveries into clinically actionable tools for brain tumor patients. The successful candidate will join an active and collaborative research environment and contribute to projects leveraging CRISPR based RNA targeting systems, including CRISPR Cas13, to interrogate RNA regulatory programs in glioma. Work will span the biology of N6 methyladenosine (m6A) modifications, tumor derived extracellular vesicles, and the development of blood based biomarker assays.Key responsibilities·Design and execute experiments in CRISPR Cas13 based RNA targeting, RNA modification profiling, and extracellular vesicle biology in glioma models·Analyze and interpret complex genomic, transcriptomic, and liquid biopsy datasets·Prepare manuscripts, present findings at national and international conferences, and contribute to grant applications·Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, and translational researchers across MGH and Harvard Medical School·Ensure compliance with institutional research protocols and ethical guidelinesQualifications·Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in molecular biology, neuroscience, cancer biology, or a related field·Hands on experience with CRISPR systems, with preference for CRISPR Cas13 or other RNA targeting approaches·Strong background in RNA biology, including transcriptomics, RNA modifications, or extracellular RNA·Experience with glioma or other brain tumor models is a significant advantage·Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing·Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, multidisciplinary research environmentThis is a full time, on site position based at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Interested candidates should submit a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for three references.
