Additional Position Details: FTE: 1.0 | Full Time | 2nd Shift - SwingSalary Range: $19.90 - $26.50.Shift Differentials$1.27 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm$2.15 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am$1.10 extra for working weekendsPosition SummaryThe Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor contributes to the overall patient experience by using organizational and communication skills to receive and process laboratory specimens as specified by regulatory requirements and laboratory standard operating procedures. This is done through assessing requisition dates, specimen adequacy and acceptability to ensure accurate order entry and high-quality laboratory results.QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position is requiredPrior education or demonstrated knowledge in medical terminologyExperience1 year of laboratory experience or a combination of education and or related experience in a healthcare setting providing knowledge of medical terminology is requiredSpecimen processing experience including esoteric reference lab specimen handling and packaging, preferredPhlebotomy experience and/or knowledge of laboratory tests and /or laboratory ordering processes, preferredCollege courses/credits toward advanced degree, especially science course work, preferredData entry, keyboarding experience and computer proficiency, preferredLicensure/CertificationsMedical Laboratory Assistant through the Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), preferredWorking ConditionsThis position requires the ability to stand/walk or lift/handle/carry between 20 and 50 pounds as a regular part of your work duties.
