TC values its role in fostering professional growth and community development.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site, Texarkana College faculty role for an Airframe and Powerplant Instructor, located at the Texarkana Regional Airport (KTXK). The instructor will deliver high-quality classroom and hands-on instruction in airframe and powerplant maintenance and demonstrate a passion for aviation while adhering to FAA Part 147 requirements and Texarkana College policies and procedures. This role is critical to developing skilled, safety-conscious technicians who meet industry standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging instruction in Airframe and Powerplant subjects, including theory, practical applications, and regulatory requirements.Teach courses in general aviation maintenance, airframe structures, powerplant systems (reciprocating and turbine engines), avionics, hydraulics, sheet metal, composites, welding, and rigging.Develop, update, and maintain lesson plans, course materials, exams, and practical projects aligned with FAA curriculum standards.Conduct hands-on lab instruction, demonstrations, and supervised maintenance projects on training aircraft and mock-ups.Evaluate student performance through written exams, practical tests, and skill assessments; provide constructive feedback and academic counseling.Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and grading in compliance with school and FAA regulations.Ensure all training meets FAA Part 147 standards and prepares students for successful A&P certification testing.Stay current with industry practices, FAA regulations, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and new aircraft technologies.Participate in curriculum reviews, program development, and continuous improvement initiatives.Mentor students and support their professional development and career placement.Maintain a safe, clean, and organized training environment.May be required to assist with aircraft maintenance on training fleet as needed to support instruction.QualificationsPossess an active FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.Demonstrated proficiency in airframe systems, powerplant systems, and general aviation maintenance practices.Thorough knowledge of FAA regulations (Parts 43, 65, 91, 147), maintenance manuals, and industry best practices.Background in general aviation, commercial aircraft, and/or military aviation.Proficiency with modern training tools, simulation equipment, and learning management systems.Sheet metal, composite repair, and welding expertise.Strong communication and instructional skills, with the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to students.Ability to create engaging and educational lesson plans for both theoretical and practical learning environments.Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant classroom and laboratory environment.Computer skills sufficient to manage records, create instructional materials, and stay current with aviation technology.Associate's degree or higher in aviation maintenance technology or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience may be considered.Experience teaching or training in aviation maintenance or a related technical field is preferred.
