Systems Development Engineer, S3
Overview
In this role you enable high-scale, secure storage services by driving automation and DevOps across the S3 Unique Regions. You’ll lead a small engineering team through the full software lifecycle, collaborating with customers and AWS engineers to deliver resilient solutions. You’ll work in a fast-paced, learning-focused environment to automate processes, scale systems, and own on-call support for critical infrastructure. This is a mission-driven opportunity to shape regional S3 capabilities at global scale.

ResponsibilitiesTechnical lead for a small engineering team through the full software lifecycleIdentify, plan, deliver, and operate software and processes that drive customer-obsessed, business-impacting improvements for AWS operationsWork with AWS engineers to identify process automation opportunitiesPerform full-lifecycle software development with constant customer interaction to scope, design, implement, test, deliver, and operate software solutionsAdopt a DevOps, Agile Scrum, incremental delivery approach with peer-reviewed codeParticipate in on-call rotation supporting automation solutions and eventually the entire S3 service in unique regions
Key requirementsBachelor's degree or CSSLP4+ years of programming in at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)4+ years of professional software development experience2+ years of designing or architecting systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling)4+ years deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environmentCurrent TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph (and willingness to opt into commensurate clearance for government work)strong collaboration and communication with cross-functional teamscustomer-focused mindset and ability to interact with userswillingness to learn and share knowledge within a high-performing teamprogramming in Python/Java/Bash/Perl (preferred)DevOps practices, agile methodology (Scrum)full software lifecycle development
