Diesel Mechanic

Department: Mechanic Reports to: Equipment Maintenance Manager Employment Type: Full Time/ Hourly / Non-Exempt Pay Range: $25.00 - $32.00 Hourly Depending on Experience and Skills Position Summary Northeast Precast is seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, forklifts, and other company equipment used in manufacturing and construction operations. The ideal candidate must be safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and able to work in a fast-paced industrial environment. Our Diesel Mechanics Excel at: Heavy Duty EquipmentMechanical repair, maintenance, and upkeep of heavy trucks, earth-moving equipment, and related construction equipment including concrete mixers, trailers, dump trucks, forklifts, and other company vehiclesInspecting, repairing, and adjusting diesel-powered units, hydraulic systems, injection valves and systems, moldboards, cable-operated attachments, vehicle tires, and related equipmentDiagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake system issues efficientlyPerforming preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain safe operation of equipmentWorking in a fast-paced industrial and construction environment while maintaining high safety standardsEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, forklifts, loaders, and heavy equipmentDiagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, air brake, and diesel engine issuesInspect equipment to identify operational or safety concernsComplete engine repairs, brake work, suspension repairs, welding, and component replacements as neededPerform oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and routine service workMaintain maintenance logs, repair records, and work orders accuratelyRespond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize operational downtimeEnsure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA and company safety standardsMaintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for company tools and equipmentCommunicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other departments regarding equipment status and repair timelinesQualificationsPrevious experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar role preferredStrong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brake systemsClass A CDL driver’s license preferred, but not requiredAcceptable motor vehicle record requiredAbility to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures efficientlyWelding and fabrication experience preferred; ability to perform welding repairs as neededStrong time management skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to read service manuals, schematics, and repair documentationMust have own basic toolsAbility to maintain equipment and work areas clean, organized, and free of debrisAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather and industrial conditionsPhysical RequirementsFrequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and liftingAbility to work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, dusty, or noisy environmentsAbility to safely operate tools, lifts, jacks, and diagnostic equipmentSchedule & BenefitsFull-Time PositionWeekly PayMedical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) Benefits AvailablePaid Holidays and PTO EligibilityOpportunities for overtime and advancementEqual Opportunity Employer Northeast Precast is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status under applicable law.
