Radiation Safety Officer

Fusers have built and licensed Magical Unicorn and FAETON I, 2 novel pulsed power generators.You are joining an early-stage fusion company. Please expect to wear different hats and take 0 to 1 ownership of objectives. Changing the world is hard but honorable and fulfilling. You should expect to work extremely hard to make a dent. Fusers are on a mission to change the world.As a radiation safety officer at Fuse, you’ll design and implement shielding solutions to protect people, equipment, and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation, including neutron and gamma radiation. A radiation shielding engineer working with neutron and gamma radiation specifically must have a deep understanding of the properties of these types of radiation and how they interact with materials.Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s/ Master's degree in nuclear engineering, physics, or a related discipline5+ years of experience with radiation shielding design and implementation, including radiation transport codes such as MCNPFamiliarity with radiation measurement equipment and techniquesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other engineers and professionalsExperience working in a laboratory or industrial environment, adhering to safety protocols and regulationsAbility and willingness for bi-coastal travelDesirable SkillsWorking knowledge of radiation safety regulations and standardsAdditional RequirementsMust be able to travel and work extended hours/weekends as neededITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
