Job DescriptionBIOFerm™, a renewable energy company, is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer. BIOFerm is a Wisconsin based company providing turnkey anaerobic digestion and gas upgrading facilities. Committed to sustainable and economical organic waste diversion, BIOFerm’s digester technology harnesses biogas from fermenting organics—food waste, manure, biosolids, etc.—and converts it into valuable green energy, vehicle fuel, heat and organic products. Its gas upgrading systems enable biogas producers to profitably upgrade biogas to renewable natural gas (RNG).Essential Job Functions:Prepare project specification of power distribution and control panels using Siemens PLCs and related componentsProvide electrical equipment sizing and specifications supportEvaluate and summarize engineering information for proposals, documentation, or presentationsSolicit and review bids Purchase electrical and controls equipment for projectsReview vendor documents and FATOversee and evaluate work performed by subcontractors to ensure compliance with engineering drawingsWork with other departments, including mechanical and process teams Provide onsite commissioning and troubleshooting support Attend construction meetings and make periodic site visitsAssist Operations in troubleshooting instrument/electrical problems, onsite and remotelyPrepare and update punch lists as required for site execution servicesCommunicate with project team and coordinate work, following direction from execution teamMaintain P&ID's loop sheets, electrical drawings, safety interlock test procedures and other essential E&I documentations, so they are current and completePrepare meeting agendas, minutes, and other project documentationAdditional tasks as assignedCompetencies/Qualifications:Required:BS in Electrical Engineering with strong understanding of power systemsMinimum 2 years’ experience in gas processing, biochemical, petrochemical, solar, or related industryThorough knowledge of process theory and E&I drawings, including electrical schematics, logic diagrams and P&ID diagramsFundamental knowledge of basic process instrumentation selection/specification, calibration, and troubleshootingUnderstanding of or willing to learn how to design and implement process control strategies, PLC programming, Profibus and Ethernet IP networking, HMI programming Experience with Ladder Logic, Function Block, and SCADA programming within MS SQL, RSLogix (5500 & 5000), Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, WinCC, STEP 7, and TIA PortalStrong background in power distribution system, hardware and equipmentStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to work within a construction site, lift heavy equipment and follow OSHA site safety standardsAbility to multitask for many projects and provide cross-departmental supportDetail oriented and self-motivated Willingness and ability to travelValid US driver’s licenseValid US passport or other document valid for international travel Must be authorized to work for any company in the United States. Must not require sponsorship, or continued sponsorship to work for any company in the United StatesPreferred:Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) Experience with power distribution and subsystems, medium to low power systemsExperience in technical execution on both PRE-FEED/FEED and EPC projects in the chemical and petrochemical industriesFamiliarity with Siemens Proficient with Ethernet IP, Profibus, and other industrial communications protocolsCompetent with design, implementation, and troubleshooting of 24VDC control voltage, 4-20 mA, HART, as well as 120VAC and 480VAC voltage systems, including associated safety considerationsExperience with various software programs, including AutoCAD Electrical and EPLANDrive to grow and advance within the company to lead and manage electrical teamCompensation/Benefits:Compensation is based on experience and is competitive.
