Fertilizer Applicator Technician

Position Summary The Lawn Care & Fertilization Specialist is a vital, hands-on role responsible for executing our comprehensive lawn treatment programs. This individual will spend a significant portion of their time diagnosing turf issues and applying fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. When not performing lawn treatments, this role will support our general landscaping crews with services such as mowing, mulching, and property clean-ups. The ideal candidate is an expert in turf health who is also a team player, willing to contribute to all aspects of our company's success. Key Responsibilities Primary Duties (Fertilization & Weed Control): Perform fertilization, weed control, and insect/disease control applications for residential and commercial properties. Accurately diagnose lawn problems, including nutrient deficiencies, common Indiana weeds, turf diseases, and insect infestations. Properly mix and apply granular and liquid fertilizers and chemical treatments according to product labels, safety procedures, and state regulations. Calibrate and operate professional fertilization equipment, including push spreaders, ride-on spreader/sprayers, and backpack sprayers. Maintain meticulous records of all applications and services performed using our company software. Communicate professionally with clients, providing recommendations, answering questions, and offering expert advice on lawn care best practices. Manage inventory of fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatment products. Secondary Duties (General Landscaping): Operate commercial zero-turn mowers, string trimmers, and edgers to maintain client properties to the highest standard. Perform seasonal services including spring/fall clean-ups, mulch installation, and pruning. Assist with landscape installation projects as needed. Maintain all equipment daily, ensuring it is clean, safe, and in good working order. Qualifications & Requirements Required: Valid Indiana Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Category 3a & 3b). Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in lawn fertilization and weed control. Strong knowledge of turfgrass types, common weeds, insects, and diseases prevalent in Indiana. Valid U.S. Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions. Excellent time management and organizational skills; must be able to work independently. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment is highly preferred. What We Offer: Become Part of Our Crew! Competitive Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour, commensurate with your experience and qualifications. Overtime Potential: Overtime pay at 1.5x the hourly rate, especially during peak season. Consistent Work: Full-time hours, typically Monday - Friday, with occasional Saturday work required during the spring rush.
