Advanced Medical Support Assistant

The Dayton VAMC is looking for an Advanced Medical Support Assistant. This position is assigned to the Primary Care Service and is responsible for administrative/clerical duties in support of patient care, including the implementation and sustainment of the VHA Primary Care Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) initiative.VA Careers - Medical Support Assistant: https://youtube.com/embed/EE9c4XkaELoDuties include, but are not limited to:Responds to inquires from Veterans, Medical Center staff and other agencies regarding Veteran's entitlement for care.Utilizes knowledge of Primary Care clinic procedures and processes to accurately schedule appointments with the appropriate physician or specialty clinic.Uses knowledge of Primary Care services and procedures guidelines to clearly inform customers or be able to direct inquiries regarding services to the appropriate personnel for resolution.Promptly answers, screens, and prioritizes telephone calls.Effectively communicates orally and in writing with people of various backgrounds and is responsible for accurate appointment management and the coordination of all administrative information between the professional staff.Handles all Release of Information (ROI) requests in ROI plus system by ensuring that all records requested are faxed and received back in a timely manner.Follow current procedures for notifying clinic staff of patient's arrival/check-in and walk-ins and urgent care appointments.Develops working knowledge of policies, regulations, and procedures regarding Veterans healthcare programs, patient eligibility, and primary care processes.Set priorities and deadlines in line with team goals.Schedules medical appointments for patients and is responsible for accurate appointment management.All other duties as assigned.Work Schedule: 0800-1630, Monday-FridayTelework: Not available.Virtual: This is not a virtual position.Functional Statement #: 91503-ARelocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized.
